Home Up

For some of us getting up to arrive at the starting point for breakfast at the Floridian Resort in St. Cloud by 8:30 AM was like getting up in the middle of the night.  Brother Sam & Deb greeted the troops with breakfast burritos ala Sam's red green shit!  Kind of brought a tear to the eyes of some. (New member "Chris," said it warmed her soul. There also was coffee and Newt's eye opening homemade Bloody Mary Mix available.

The morning started off warm and sunny as we set off for the residences of four members. The first stop was at Newt & Midgets in Kissimmee with the Welcome Wagon leading the pack.  Next was the Orlando residence of Brother DJ where we were warmly greeted by his menagerie of  canine guardians of the fort.  As the clouds began to darken the skies, we bid adieu to Brother Guy who had other commitments and continued on our trek.  We managed to get a few miles in a southern direction when the skies opened on us forcing a wait by the gas pumps at a Shell station on John Young Parkway.

The sun began to peer through the clouds and our trip continued.  The clothes of most had just about dried when another downpour renewed the dampness that nearly disappeared as we got to Taft.  Thank heaven for the 7-11 there providing shelter till another break in the clouds permitted continuing on.

With the storm clouds threatening, the last two residences scheduled were cancelled and we managed to dodge the raindrops back to the Floridian Resort for libation and draw the remaining cards for the poker run. Midget won the best hand and Captain America had the worst hand. After purchasing libation for the group, Midget donated the remainder of her winnings back to the Chapter. Sam and Deb outdid themselves by making some of the biggest hot dogs seen by most along with some musical fruit. (and the red "green shit!)

In spite of the elements, a huge and enjoyable time was had by all.  If you missed this one, you missed a great event.  Many thanks to Sam for chairing the event and his contributions.  We will post more pictures as they are received.
